The Power Of Viral Marketing and Social Bookmarking

I found this fascinating quote today:

The impact has been huge. Shortly after the email was sent, traffic spiked to just under 200 and overnight it peaked at just over 310 (see graphs below). The average views I was getting on the blog, before this email, was around 20 - 40 views a day, with a few spikes in traffic due to an AIMIA speaking engagement and an article. You should read the whole article. Its really amazing how fast you can generate traffic in a short amount of time. Of course, the interesting thing as mentioned in the article is whether the traffic remains at that level. But, despite this, the overall benefits of Social Bookmarking and promoting your content around the Internet means that you are creating links that won't disappear and this will ultimately help your site rank higher in search enigines and will start to gain authority.

So, test this yourself. Send a social work email promoting your site and analyse the results through Google Analytics or any other tracking service.
